As this month’s theme is about breaking unhealthy habits and establishing new, healthy ones, I want you to know that one of our greatest battlefields as believers in Christ is the battle in our minds. We struggle daily with having unhealthy thoughts – thoughts of doubt, unbelief, anger, unforgiveness, worry, anxiety, depression, discouragement, envy, jealousy, pride, and negativity.
Just as we must intentionally choose to eat healthy foods, exercise daily, drink plenty of water, and get sufficient rest and relaxation, we also must intentionally choose to renew our minds in God’s word each day. (Romans 12:2) Until we remove the unhealthy thoughts from our minds and replace them with healthy ones that line up with God’s word, we will not experience change of mind and lasting change of life.
How do you renew your mind? The only way to do that is by spending time daily in God’s word. We as women of God have busy, hectic lives today. We don’t have time to spend hours praying, reading and studying the Bible, and worshipping, as great as that would be. God understands our busy schedules. But we can take a few minutes each day to consistently read and study God’s word – to “chew” on it. As we saturate ourselves in God’s word, its power of light will penetrate and enlighten our minds with understanding and revelation from God. (Psalm 119: 130)
As we pray and tear down every stronghold that raises itself up against Jesus Christ, and through reading, studying, proclaiming aloud, and most of all LIVING OUT God’s word in our lives, we will experience transformation. (2 Corinthians 10: 3-5) Jesus will increase in us, and we will decrease. (John 3:30)
We will think new thoughts and live a new way – God’s way. People will see that we have been with Jesus and see Him in us. (Acts 4:13) They will be drawn to us because of His anointing in us, and we will be able to share the good news of Jesus Christ with them, so their lives will be transformed eternally, too.
